The Pandeiro has its roots in the Arabic Tambourine, although it has developed other construction formats and especially many singular techniques in Brazilian territory. A staple for Samba, Capoeira, Xote, and several Brazilian Rhythms, together with the Atabaque, it is one of the hallmarks of Brazilian instruments.

 

Made of Massaranduba wood, weaved with holes for one line of jingles, and covered with goat skin, this Pandeiro is tuned with small wooden pegs and can be tuned by catching some natural sunlight on the skin.
